01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Not sure what to order first? Start with a platter of appetisers. The 7-item platter is 1,320 yen per person, while the 11-item version costs 1,925 yen; both must be ordered for the full number of people at the table. Some diners have found the platters generous, with a good variety of flavours. One visitor mentioned pumpkin soup, crab-flavoured baguette and pâté de campagne among the items. You could sample a little of everything, or add a half portion of Bayonne ham from France or a selection of 4 cheeses. There is room to tailor the appetisers to the group and the pace of the meal.

For a more substantial starter, consider the tartare made with domestically produced Japanese black wagyu. It may not be available if the restaurant has not received a delivery, but one diner described enjoying it with a mojito. Hot dishes include ajillo with angel prawns and mushrooms, or with whitebait and green laver. For a main course, options take different directions: duck confit braised with white beans, or A4 rump steak served with roasted vegetables. The steak is 150g for 3,520 yen, with additional portions listed in 50g increments. It makes a natural centrepiece for a meal; for something lighter, there is also pasta or risotto.

There is a broad drinks list to go with the food. The menu calls the mojito its No. 1 popular cocktail. Red and white wines are each available by the glass in 3 varieties, while bottles—mainly from France and elsewhere in Europe—are listed from 4,400 yen. One visitor found the mojito refreshing. For a bar-style drink to round off the evening, or a non-alcoholic option, there is also a virgin mojito.

Drunkard Ebisu is a bistro bar for a first stop over dinner or an evening of drinks and small plates. Visitors have noted that its tables and counter seating suit both solo diners and groups. Dinner reservations are available.
